Crypto Market Cap Falls 3.47% to $2.76 Trillion as Greed Cools
Total crypto market cap fell 3.47% to $2.76 trillion while Bitcoin slipped just 0.67%. Celestia jumped 21.06%; Fear & Greed eased to 55 from 63.
The total crypto market capitalisation fell 3.47% to $2.76 trillion over 24h. That is a much steeper drop than any large coin except Zcash recorded, and our large-cap data does not account for all of it.
The overall market
The 22318 assets we track were worth $2.76 trillion combined, down 3.47% on the day. The headline loss does not fit well with the moves of the biggest coins. Bitcoin makes up 59.31% of the total and fell only 0.67%. Ethereum, at 10.72% of the market, fell 0.72%. Those two assets make up most of the market's value, and both lost less than a percent. A 3.47% drop in the total would therefore need very large losses elsewhere. Nothing in our large-cap list or our biggest-decliners list shows losses that widespread. Our data does not explain the gap, so readers should treat the headline figure with care.
The same caution applies even more strongly to volume. Our 24h trading volume reading shows $153.50 trillion. That is many times larger than the whole market's value, and it does not match the volumes we measured for individual assets, where the largest are Tether's $49.54 billion and Bitcoin's $25.94 billion. We treat that reading as a measurement fault, not as a sign of a surge in trading.
Large caps: small losses, Zcash the exception
The biggest assets show mild, widespread weakness rather than a sell-off. Bitcoin traded at $81,527.9677, giving it a market cap of $1.64 trillion. Ethereum traded at $2,426.5311 and a market cap of $296.12 billion. BNB lost 1.14% to $721.6509, XRP lost 1.92% to $1.3092 and Solana lost 0.81% to $104.8212. TRON, up 0.16% at $0.3351, and Figure Heloc, a tokenised asset with a market cap of $24.83 billion, up 0.54%, were the only non-stablecoin names in our large-cap list to rise.
Zcash stood apart. It fell 4.86% to $1,162.5432 on $1.09 billion of trading, by far the heaviest loss among the large caps. Our data shows nothing that explains the move. Stablecoins held their pegs, with Tether at $0.9990 and USDC at $1.0003. Tether traded $49.54 billion, more than Bitcoin. Much crypto trading runs through dollar-pegged tokens, so high volume does not by itself show strong demand for any one coin.
The standouts
Smaller assets moved far more sharply. The biggest 24h gains among assets worth more than $50M were:
- Impossible Cloud Network Token (ICNT): +41.52% to $0.2108, market cap $53.5 million
- ALEO (ALEO): +22.09% to $0.0562, market cap $84.3 million
- Celestia (TIA): +21.06% to $0.7471, market cap $734.1 million
- Quack AI (Q): +20.16% to $0.0647, market cap $303.9 million
Celestia is the most significant of these. At $734.1 million it is by far the largest of the top gainers, and it is also one of the most-searched assets on our site. That suggests many people are watching the move, not just a few traders in a thinly traded coin. ICNT's gain came at a market cap of only $53.5 million, a size at which modest buying or selling can move the price sharply.
On the downside, Cortex (CX) fell 54.93% to $0.0328, leaving its market cap at $50.0 million. Among better-known names, Starknet (STRK) lost 16.25% to $0.0710 and LayerZero (ZRO) lost 11.53% to $1.9675, leaving market caps of $539.8 million and $786.4 million. Our data does not explain any of these moves, and we do not guess at causes we cannot see.
Besides Celestia, readers on our site were searching most for Dacity Coin, Solana, Pudgy Penguins, Sei, Injective and Quantus. Search interest shows what people are looking at. It does not show whether they are buying or selling.
What the sentiment gauges say
The Fear & Greed index reads 55, still in Greed territory but down from 63 at the previous reading. The index combines several measures into one mood score. It describes how the market is behaving, not where it is going, and a single day's change says little about direction. The drop does match the market's broad slight losses: the mood has cooled, though it has not turned fearful.
Bitcoin dominance of 59.31% is Bitcoin's share of the total market value. Dominance rises when Bitcoin outperforms and also when other assets fall faster, so on its own it does not show money flowing into Bitcoin. Because today's total figure is itself doubtful, we would not read much into the dominance number on this day.
The picture would change if the large caps started falling as fast as the 3.47% headline figure, instead of the sub-percent moves Bitcoin and Ethereum made today. It would also change if Fear & Greed kept falling from 55 while dominance rose above 59.31%. That combination would point to a market pulling back into its largest asset.
